Volunteer Jobs
Hi Tigerfish Families!
Congrats on
finishing the first meet and thank you for all the parent volunteers! Special
thanks for the parents who stepped in to help cover some spots that opened unexpectedly.
Our system is tracking
everyone's volunteer hours, and we want to make
sure you get the proper credit. If you worked a job that you did not sign up
for in advance, please reply to let me know what you did, so we can update our
records accordingly.
We wanted to clarify a few points about the volunteer jobs this season.
1- Most
jobs are assigned for the entire meet:
Veteran parents recall jobs having two shifts covering 1st and 2nd
half of the meet and parents were expected to cover only one half of the meet. This
changed this season for several reasons including smaller team size and shorter
meets. Most volunteer positions were changed from 2 shift per meet to one
shift. If you are not able to stay the entire meet, please arrange with another
parent to take over your job or let us know in advance and we will arrange for
someone to take over.
2- Each family is expected to work one job at
each meet that they attend. You're welcome to work extra jobs if you want.
3-Most jobs are open for sign-up until the
spots fill: If sign up for a job for the first time, a quick five-minute
training before the start of the meet is all you would need to learn what to
do.
4-A few jobs are not open for sign-up: These
jobs are more complicated and/ or would require more involvement before or
after the meet.
- a.Computer Operatorrequires prior experience, so it's only open
for those who worked the computer last year. If you would like to train for
this job, please let us know and will assign you an Apprentice job, and you
will earn volunteer points for it. - b.Stroke & Turn judges are
the meet officials, managed by Joe Cucchiaro - c.Concessionsrequires
additional tasks performed the week leading up to the meet, managed by Christy
Menter. - d.Ribbon writers Ribbons
are labeled after the meet is completed and all results are documented.
If
you are interested in any of these positions, please reach out.
5-Changing
Jobs during and after open sign-up: You
may try to change jobs as long as the meet entry is open. Once the meet is
closed, no changes to volunteer jobs can be made on your end. If you need to
change jobs or if you are no longer able to perform the job you had sign up for,
please contact us ASAP so we can plan to cover the job.
6-Volunteer
jobs starts when the meet starts: Please
make sure you check in with the Volunteer coordinator, Faten Barakat, as soon
as you arrive at the pool and be prepared to report to your job a few minutes
before the start of the meet.
The
only way we can run a smooth and successful meet is with your participation and
collaboration. What makes us a unique team is that we are a community team, friends
and neighbors.
Don’t hesitate to
reach out with any questions. Looking forward to seeing you all next meet!
