The Importance of Meet Warm Ups
Hi Tigerfish!
I hope everyone is having an awesome week! This is Coach Hannah and I want to briefly discuss why meet warm ups and being on time for them is so important. Warming up helps your swimmer become one step ahead both physically and mentally on race day. When swimmers jump into the pool for warm ups, they familiarize themselves with the temperature of the pool, perfect the timing of their turns (especially at an away meet), and even practice a few dives so they are ready to launch off the block during their race. In addition, it gets their blood pumping and muscles moving so they are ready to go during the meet. On the mental side, warming up can tremendously boost your swimmer's confidence in the water. After warming up, they know exactly what to expect, which can go a long way in reducing pre-race nerves.
Please make sure to arrive at the meet 15 minutes ahead of our warm up slot so your swimmer is ready on time and can take full advantage of them. If you have any questions or comments please don't hesitate to email me at [email protected].
Looking forward to a great meet!
Coach Hannah
